Due to the Pandemic, we were all home and decided to take a 2 nights break someplace which is not in the Red Zone and safe…we decided to go to Newport, Rhode Island and found this place The Almondy, B&B (#11 of 94 B&Bs / Inns in Newport, RI).
Since this was our first trip to Newport, Rhode Island, and also the First time to lodging in a B&B Inn…we were a little skeptical, to begin with.
upon arrival, we were graciously greeted by Inn Keeper Ms. Claudette…as per the current norms, she took our body temperatures, gave us the guidelines as to what to expect and how to keep ourselves socially distant during our stay…
We ere so much thankful to Ms. Claudette, she took care of us all the time…whether it was the room allocation or morning breakfast and even the evening time we had a lounge for us all to sit and talk…
They have two types of rooms that are spacious to accommodate 4 adults, the Burgandy Room is extra special…as I mentioned that Ms. Claudette was very much helpful, she gave us a room on the second floor for the first night and next morning she had the Burgandy room free so she requested to move and that was as exceptionally good room to stay… the only thing is that it’s one of a kind and they only have one room this size
Just amazing! The accommodations were perfect. Clean rooms and great service. Claudette was very helpful and she can cook an awesome breakfast. The close proximity to the waterfront was just right. We would highly recommend it.
The Almondy Inn was OUTSTANDING!! We had the time of our life, the rooms were more than comfortable, the food was great, the location was better! The innkeeper Claudette was the best part, so hospitable, and made us feel at home! Will be back soon
We wanted to experience the charm of Newport and based on the reviews we had decided to stay at the Almondy Inn. I am so glad we did because it felt like we were at home every day and night when we returned. Located directly across from all of the wharfs, shops, and restaurants it was a 2-minute walk from the doorstep. The Inn was extremely clean. You notice the attention to detail as soon as you walk in. We stayed in the Plantation room which was also very clean. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were the best pillows we have slept on. We had a decent view of the bay. Claudette is a wonderful host and makes sure you have everything you need. The staff is friendly and the made to order breakfast was amazing. Everything was made fresh on site from the muffins to the cookies. Wine and cheese at 5 pm. There is a quaint porch with rocking chairs to sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. The Almondy Inn is a great little gem of a B & B. I highly recommend staying here.
Can’t say enough about The Almondy B&B Inn. Top-rated hospitality with Claudette Hinds as the Innkeeper. Impeccable comfort, homemade breakfast, and the best location make The Almondy a must-visit! Can’t wait to come back!
My husband and I just got back from a wonderful stay at the Almondy. One of the nicest and classiest B and Bs I have ever stayed at. Claudette is the consummate host – upbeat, warm, friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Yes, the location is centrally located and therefore, perfect, but the room and the food truly make the stay memorable. Delicious breakfasts, scrumptious cookies in the afternoon, and perfect wine and cheese at “happy hour”. We will be back!!
My wife & I visited the Almondy Inn July 15-18th & it was just wonderful. As returning guests we knew how good it would be but it truly exceeded all expectations again. The Inn is immaculate & just so welcoming, relaxing & peaceful. We stayed in the Plantation room with gorgeous views of the harbor. The bathroom was brand new & absolutely beautiful. The Almondy Inn is just steps away from the famous Thames Street & all the Wharfs. Restaurants, Bars & shopping are literally yards away. Claudette the Innkeeper is fantastic & provides you will all the details & info you may need during your stay. The home-cooked breakfast & the afternoon wine & cheese…terrific! I highly recommend the Almondy Inn for those traveling to Newport!!
We enjoyed our three-night stay. The house is very clean, and it is centrally located. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. A word about Claudette: she is a warm and friendly hostess, and her breakfasts are excellent.
Okay, so it’s cold and some of the mansions are closed, but the off-season is fabulous in Newport. It’s quieter, you are more likely to get private tours, and you get great breaks on the cost of top-rate B&B’s, like the Almondy Inn. Just steps away from great restaurants and nestled in the historic gas-lit area it is super-convenient… and luxurious. Attention to detail and extra perks really make this a special stay: hosted wine and cheese at 5, full breakfast with real candles on the table, and a fireplace on demand. Try mid-week off-season and enjoy!
This is a cute Little Inn in central Newport. We hade a Beautiful room with a separate sittingarea. The staff is wonderful and you feel like a guest in someone´s home. In the afternoon there is wine, cheese and cookies as a complimentary. The breakfast is Amazing! Hope we can return soon
My wife and I spent last weekend at the Almondy Inn with my brother and sister-in-law. We stayed in the spacious, clean and nicely furnished Captain’s Quarters. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom with plenty of shared space to spend time together. This was our sencod visit this year (previously stayed in the Burgundy Suite). We felt extremely comfortable and at home on both visits.
Th Inn is conveniently located within waling distance to the port on Thames street and many local restaurants and offers off street parking for its guests.
Breakfast was delicious, fresh and more than adequate and Claudette (innkeeper) and her staff could not have been more accomodating.
Loved our stay! Will definitelty be going back
We stayed here only for one night but it was a lovely stay.
Dina greeted us and chatted so comfortably for ages, she looked after us so well. Only met Claudette the next morning, she also was very friendly.
Our room was a reasonable size with a really comfortable bed. We also had a sitting room which we didn’t sit in but it was great for storing our cases. The bathroom could be entered from either room.
There were biscuits on a table in the lounge area to help yourself thoroughout the day. They served cheese and wine for an hour from 5.00 pm, which is a lovely touch. It allows you to meet and chat to other guests (there were only 4 couples there that night, I think).
Breakfast was lovely – more than we expected and even a glass of Mimosa! All guests seated around a large table. Again, nice to be able to chat to the others.
Luckily there are some dedicated parking spaces behind the Inn as the road was quite busy.
We stayed in Newport for 2 nights to attend a wedding. The Inn is perfectly located, just minutes from Thames Street, the water, the shopping. We were met by Claudette who couldn’t be warner, nicer or more accommodating. Our room was spacious, outfitted with everything we needed for our stay plus many extras and a beautiful fireplace. The common room was so inviting with flowers, candy, fruit, newspapers to read and comfortable chairs by the fireplace. Our homemade breakfasts were absolutely delicious and plentifully. The service was impeccable and Claudette and her staff went over and above to make this a memorable trip. Next time we are in Newport, we will be staying at the Almondy
We had a wonderful visit. Claudette greeted us warmly. We called ahead inquiring about parking and even though it was before our check-in time she encouraged us to park at the inn and use the restroom. Our stay in Newport was short so we missed the wine and cheese and the breakfast but the table was set beautifully! Location, location, location! This inn was close to shopping and restaurants! We also enjoyed the view of the harbor! We would stay at The Almondy Inn again
We stayed for two nights and were swiftly checked in and shown around by Dina. We had the sunset room…. a bit tight for space in both the bedroom and bathroom – we were pleased that the bed was so high that we could store our cases under it otherwise there wouldn’t have been any room. We had breakfast on the first morning sharing the lovely dining table with two other couples. Claudette looked after us all very well. When we returned later in the day we were greeted by Claudette who said that we were the only guests for the rest of the evening so would we like some cheese and wine now (it’s offered in the dining room between 5-6. Claudette offered to bring it up to our room. We had a lovely chat. She’s such a warm lady, really welcoming. The next morning Dina looked after us at breakfast and again it was just us so we had the room to ourself. Dina made us delicious pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon and then some fruit. She was very attentive and friendly. The staff to be honest really make this one place. It’s a comfortable B and B close to restaurants. It was all very quite as towards the end of the season but we had a nice time
The Almondy Inn was one of two favorite places to stay on our month-long East Coast road trip.
This is a very charming Inn. Claudette and her staff are very friendly and a joy to talk with. Our room was beautifully decorated with a sitting area and a small lanai with enough space to enjoy a cup of coffee and a water view.
We highly recommend staying here. The breakfast was excellent and the evening glass of wine with Claudette was delightful
Like many said, if you like B&Bs this one should please you. I don’t need to restate the great things many others have said but I will add my experience. We did have a nice time and I did like the Almondy but what I appreciated most was the way they honored our gift certificate. You see back in 2011 our son gave his sister a gift certificate to the Almondy which she never used. Ended up giving it back to her brother. He eventually gave it to us as he knows we enjoy going to Newport. I called and spoke to the innkeeper about using this old certificate and she spoke with the owners who said they would honor it! I should add that the gift certificate did have an expiration date which had long passed. In addition, the original certificate was purchased through the previous owners. I think that kind of personal service is just wonderful. I would recommend this inn to anyone for the variety of reasons mentioned. TD
We stayed at The Almondy Inn for three nights September 9-12-2019. We were greeted by Claudette upon our arrival and immediately felt at home. Dina showed us our beautiful room as well as the rest of the Inn. Dina made us the most delicious full breakfast every morning. Pancakes, bacon, ham and egg cups, fresh muffins along with fresh fruit. We fell in love with Dina who is a young mother living in the area. She is from Moldova and is learning to speak beautiful English. She is eager to learn about her guests and their interests. Dina makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookies for the guests in the afternoon and serves wine and cheese at 5. Everything at The Almondy is done with grace and the rooms are appointed with the most beautiful furniture, reminiscent of an old Inn. We sat in the rocking chairs on the porch every night before retiring. The owners live on-site and it is obvious that they work hard to make this the most beautiful and comfortable Inn. Claudette and Dina will make sure your stay at The Almondy will always be a fond memory. We would return in a heartbeat to stay in beautiful Newport
